Caravan Hound (Mudhol hound) History
The Caravan is an ancient breed of states of Maharashtra, Karnataka and to a lesser degree, Andhra Pradesh. The breed was first introduced into India by traders and mercenaries from various parts of Asia. Because these merchant traveled in caravans with dogs so they began referring to them as “Karwani,” that means “of the caravans.” Later on the Kennel Club of India recognized the breed and named Caravan Hound. |
