Resembles somewhat like Saluki breed Chippiparai also, shares its strong physical resemblance with them.

The Chippiparai was traditionally used to hunt small game, predominantly hare, due to its intelligence and biddable nature. As the time passed they have successfully been trained as police dogs.

Chippiparai History

Though Chippiparai is an original breed of sighthound from Tamil Nadu in southern India but still their roots are believed to be linked with an Egyptian breed of dogs known as Saluki the Royal Dog of Egypt.

Being the descended from Salukis, this breed is most frequently found in the regions of Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli, Thenkasi, Thoothukudi, and Madurai, thought to be descended from Salukis.
